It's here! Hybrid learning, here we come! Here are a few announcements:
  • I am going to try my best to adhere to each subject's start time, but please understand that students learning from home may not start exactly at 8:45AM this week as we navigate through entry protocols.  I appreciate your patience and understanding. Please have your child ready at their computer at 8:45AM, but recognize that the link might appear a little afterward.
  • This is the first week of actual hybrid learning. Students will have their modified Wednesday schedule this week.
    • On Wednesday, we will start our remote day promptly at 8:30AM.

Weekly Learning Outline and Announcements for February 22nd

I will be at Coonley this week, setting up the classroom and planning to ensure a smooth transition. Therefore, during asynchronous learning time, I won't be as available to students as I will be working on things within the classroom. Also, during social studies this week (2:00-3:00PM), students will be participating in a project-based Midwest state report. They will mostly be working independently on this project which I will explain on Monday, but I will be available during the synchronous learning time to answer questions.

We will be following our M, T, TH, F hybrid schedule for the whole week. We will not have a modified W half day. Students will log on as usual at 8:30 AM.

Mrs. Dubose will be teaching a lesson on Tuesday from 2:00-2:30PM. We will start social studies afterward at 2:30PM on that day.

Weekly Learning Outline and Announcements for January 25th

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for always being a support to me as I navigate through this, sometimes wild ride, of remote learning. I anticipate hybrid learning will have a few bumps in the road, too, but I am ready to embark on that journey with your child. I am also so thankful to have such an understanding, patient, and kind hearted class. I could not have asked for a better group of students to travel this uncharted territory with.

Weekly Learning Outline and Announcements for January 18th

  • Be on the lookout during the next week or so for more information about hybrid learning and our 3rd grade plan.
  • On Friday (1/22), I will be holding a practice mask-wearing day. If your child will be returning to in-person learning in February, please have them practice wearing their mask all day during virtual learning. I will also be participating in this so students can see me with a mask on, as well. 😷
  • Mr. Z and Mr Laslo are hosting another presentation of Coonley's Hybrid Plan on Tuesday (1/19). This presentation will be followed by a Q&A session in case you'd like to attend and ask to get some of your questions answered. This information was in the Administrative Blast, but I wanted to share it with you as well. Contact me if you need the login information.

I sent all parents, who chose the hybrid learning option, a Return to In-Person Learning survey. Thanks to those of you who have filled out the survey already. For those who have not yet, it is due at the end of next week. I will use the survey to begin organizing my learning pods.

On Friday, December 18th @ 2:00PM, we will be having our holiday party. Students are invited to bring a warm mug of hot chocolate. Students are also encouraged to wear festive, holiday clothes. We will be doing an art project, so students will need a black and white sheet of construction paper. They may also bring other colors if they’d like, but they are not necessary.

Weekly Learning Outline for October 19th

We had another great week last week. Students have done a wonderful job sharing their ideas with one another while listening to one anothers personal narratives. They also did such a good job asking insightful questions while learning why people immigrate to new countries. I am very impressed with them!

Weekly Learning Outline for October 5th

Happy October! I can't believe we have alread been in school, learning remotely, for 4 weeks. I can't express how impressed I am with the hard word that students are displaying everyday. I know it's not easy, but they have been quite inspirational. In my email is information about Scholastic Book orders. It's so cool that book orders can be directly delivered to your home during the pandemic. Also, I am in need of a family photo from each family. Thanks so much!

Room Reps

Thank you to Linda Hattar and Dana Sutan for being our room representative this year.

Weekly Learning Outline for September 28th

Again, I can't express how proud I am of each and every student in room 207 for the hard work they are displaying every day! Way to go!

As stated in my email, on Wednesdays, students will only be seeing one enrichment teacher from now on. For the next 3 weeks, they will have gym on M, T, and W, and Spanish on TH and F. Then on the week of October 18th it will switch so students will have gym M and T, and Spanish on W, TH, and F. I will also share this information with the class throughout the week so that they know of the change and know where to go on Wednesday.

Also, students will be venturing to Khan Academy on Monday to take a pre assessment. Below is the weekly learning outline for next week. CPS Volunteer Process (for in class volunteering and chaperoning field trips)

CPS has expanded the official online volunteer process to include all school volunteers. In previous years the official process has been reserved for those parents that are volunteering more than a 6 hours a week and for those that were volunteering for overnight trips. We ask that all parents that want to volunteer at any level get officially cleared through CPS. Please complete the online form through the link below. Please sign up as a Level I (overnight trip) or a Level II (day field trip, classroom help, school event etc.)
